Short bio:

Ella Liebermann-Shiber

(1927-1998) A Jew born in Berlin. She hid out with her family for a short while, but was eventually sent to Auschwitz along with her parents. Her father was killed immediately. She survived, along with her mother, thanks to her talent in painting. An SS soldier asked her to draw the portrait of a relative he had lost in battle and that way, drawing the portraits of killed Germans, her mother and her escaped the crematorium.
